Issues of concern

The DPP regularly undertakes to seek the views of the community in relation to local policing, both positive, and in relation to any issues of concern that members of the community have. A main role of the DPP is to identify the needs of the community, and then to work with the police to ensure, as far as possible, that the police meet the communities needs.

The gathering of the communities views is undertaken by a number of means, which include: -

Organising Public 'Community Information' events where anyone who lives or works in the Borough is entitled and encouraged to come along and discuss with the DPP their views and concerns about local policing. The Area Commander is also invited to address those who attend in relation to local policing. This is your opportunity to have any concerns raised and addressed, and to have your views heard. These are advertised locally in the press.

Undertaking consultation with the public, such as at TESCO in Antrim, and SUPERVALUE in Randalstown where members of the DPP had a stand and gave out leaflets explaining the work of the DPP, who is on the DPP, and also sought the views of shoppers.

Members are also undertaking a consultation initiative to get out to meet with a wide range of community, voluntary and statutory groups to gain their views on the future of local policing.

Questionnaires are sent out once a year in a Borough wide consultation exercise by post.

The DPP is continually seeking ways to improve and expand the current means of consultation with the community, your suggestions would be welcomed.
