Key Objectives


The key objectives of the 2008-2009 local policing plan include:

1. To ensure that Policing with the Community is at the core of delivery of the policing service.
2. To prevent and reduce crime.
3. To improve crime investigation.
4. To reduce the incidence of anti-social behaviour.
5. To reduce casualties on the road.


Within each of these objectives there are a number of Performance Indicators and specific Targets for the local PSNI to achieve.

It is against these targets that the Antrim DPP members monitor the ongoing performance of the local police at the DPP Public meetings and Management meetings.


Policing Plan Targets (April 2008 to March 2009)

1. To ensure that Policing with the Community is at the core of delivery of the policing service.
To increase the percentage of emergency calls responded to within 15 minutes by 2% points

2. To reduce crime.
To reduce the total number of crimes in line with service targets.
To reduce the total number of violent crime by 2%.
To reduce the total number of domestic burglaries in line with service targets.
To reduce the incidence of repeat victimisation of domestic abuse.

3. To improve crime investigation.
To increase the number of drug seizures by 5%.
To increase the number of assets seized and recovered, and report on their value, in accordance with the Proceeds of Crime Act.

4. To reduce the incidence of anti-social behaviour.
To reduce the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour by 5%.
To reduce the number of young people drinking under the legal age by 2%.

5. To reduce casualties on the road.
To reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the road.
