Overview of the Borough

Ballymena Borough Council district covers 630 square kilometres and apart from the main centre of population (Ballymena Town) the other main urban centres are Ahoghill, Broughshane, Cullybackey and Portglenone.  The borough is the regional administrative centre for many organisations in the North East, including the Health & Social Services, Education & Library Boards and several government departments.  Ballymena town is recognised as having some of the best shopping facilities in Northern Ireland.
