How to ask Questions
To qualify to participate in DPP Meetings in Public you must be resident or working in the borough.
To ensure that your question will receive a response from the Commander you would be advised to submit a written question to the Secretary of Ballymena DPP no later than nine workings days before the date of the meeting.

For members of the public, who have a disability or have difficulty in submitting a written question, telephone 028 2566 0442 to have your question recorded.
You may submit a written question at the start of a meeting in public but you are unlikely to receive a detailed response and in all likelihood your question may be carried over to a future meeting.
To ensure that your written question is considered ‘Relevant & Pertinent‘ pay careful attention to the following clause, which has been included in the Standing Orders of the Partnership:
“A question will only be considered ‘Relevant & Pertinent to the operation of the District Policing Partnership’ if it relates to;
- The District Command Unit discharging their function of policing the borough as from the 1st March 2003, which was the inception of the DPP
- A questioner or a verifiable third party, who has been directly affected by the policing of the district since the inception of the DPP
- The Annual Policing Plan (2003-2004 and onwards) as it relates to the district.
- The Local Policing Plan (2003-2003 and onwards) applying to the district or any part of the district.”
“Complaints against Police Officers from members of the public should be directed to the Police Ombudsman.”
Alternatively you may choose to ask a member of the DPP to raise an issue or ask a question on your behalf. You should approach the member before the nine working days deadline for written questions and give them enough time to pass your question to the District Commander in advance of the meeting.
Each member of Ballymena DPP has been assigned to an electoral area in the borough. So if you are concerned about crime and the policing of your area you will know whom to contact.

DPP Members and Areas of Responsibility
If you are unable to attend the meeting in public and would like to be in a position to discuss the District Commander's response with your local community, then complete and return the tear-off slip on the DPP Secretary's acknowledgement of your question and you will receive a written response.
