The Belfast District Policing Partnership was formally established on 6th March 2003. The Partnership is comprised of ten political representatives of Belfast City Council and nine independent members of the local community. The Members of the Partnership have been appointed for the period ending at the date of the next local elections, which are due to take place in May 2011.
Political members are appointed on party strength within Belfast City Council, a system known as d'Hondt, appointments for independent members are public appointments which are made by the Northern Ireland Policing Board.
