Local Police Performance

As required under the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000, Belfast District Policing Partnership's aim is to monitor the performance of the police in carrying out:

  1. the policing plan as it relates to the district and
  2. the local policing plan applying to the district or any part of the district.

In order to achieve this Local District Commanders present to the Principal Committee and its Sub-Groups, a bi-monthly report on recorded crime and detection rates which highlight any specific issues which may be of interest.  This enables the Partnership to undertake an analysis of how each area is performing in relation to both the Local and Annual Policing Plans.

Additionally, each District Commander is required to present a six monthly report the the Principal Committee.  This is a more comprehensive report and identifies the progress that the Police are making in meeting their published targets and objectives.  Information is provided on steps which are being take to progress policing with the community as the core function of all policing within the City of Belfast, the contribution that the Police are making to community safety projects within the City of Belfast, how targets which have been set out in the Annual and Local Policing Plans are being met and steps which are being taken in relation to crime prevention within Belfast.

Copies of the Local District Commander's bi-monthly reports are available from the DPP Manager's Office.
