How to ask questions

Members of the public are given an opportunity to question the District Commander.  There are a number of methods available for members of the public to ask their questions of the District Commander:

•A written question can be forwarded to the police via the DPP manager prior to the meeting if you would like a full and detailed response to your question,

•Members of the public who attend the meeting are given an opportunity to ask a question of the District Commander on the evening,

•You can approach a member of the DPP to ask a question on your behalf.

If the District Commander does not have the necessary information available at the meeting, your question may be responded to in writing at a later date.

There are a number of circumstances where it may not be possible for the District Commander to provide a response to your question:

a)If it is in the interest of national security

b)If it would endanger the security of one or more individuals

c)If it relates to an individual and is of a sensitive personal nature

d)It if involves information that the police are holding in confidence for another agency

e)If it would, or would be likely to, prejudice proceedings which have been commenced in a court of law

f)If it would, or would be likely to, prejudice the prevention or detection of crime or the apprehension or prosecution of offenders.
