The roles and responsibilities of Coleraine DPP are set out in the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000.
The main roles are as follows:
- to identify local policing issues,
- to establish policing priorities for the local policing plan with the PSNI,
- to monitor police performance against the local policing plan,
- to facilitate an open forum for members of the public to ask questions of the PSNI and
- to gain public co-operation in working with the police to prevent crime.
