In summary, the main roles and responsibilities of the DPP are to:
- Provide views to the District Commander on any matter concerning the polcing of the district.
- Monitor the performance of the police in carrying out the policing plan.
- Make arrangements for getting the views of the public on matters concerning the policing of the district and gaining their co-operation with the police in preventing crime.
- Act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of the district.
Craigavon itself is situated on the southern shore of Lough Neagh and is easily accessible both by road and rail. The borough has a total population of approximately 80,000 people, and encompasses a mix of quiet country villages and modern towns, including the urban centres of Lurgan, Brownlow and Portadown.
Craigavon has an impressive range of visitor attractions. These include; Lough Neagh Discovery Centre, Coney Island, Ballydougan Pottery and Moneypenny's Lock and Lockhouse.
