FAQs
Q. How can I contact the DPP?
A. You can contact the DPP Manager, who is based at the Civic Centre. You can also contact your Local Members through the DPP Manager. Click on this link for more information. If you have been to one of our meetings, why not fill in our feedback form? You can do it online and email it back to the DPP Manager, or print it off and post it to the Freepost address.
Q. Do I have to wait for a Meeting in Public to raise an issue?
A. No, you can raise an issue at any time. Just contact the DPP Manager or a Local Member.
Q. How do I raise an issue or a question with the DPP at a Meeting in Public?
A. Public Meetings are opportunities for members of the public to ask questions or raise issues with the District Commander of the Police or Members of the DPP. You can do so either in person or in writing. If you want to write a written question, get in contact with the DPP Manager at least 10 days before the meeting. You may find that you will get a fuller response if we know what your questions are before the meeting and we can research and prepare answers beforehand. Full written responses are provided to each written question following the meeting.
You can also ask questions without having to give your name or other contact details.

Q. How many Meetings in Public are there a year, and how do I find out where and when they will be held?
A. There are four regular Meetings in Public a year and two other themed Meetings in Public. For the date and location of the next DPP Meeting in Public, go to the Meetings section of this website.
Q. Just because a meeting is in one town, does it mean that only issues from that town will be discussed?
A. No - we have meetings at different locations in the Borough and at different times of day to give as many people as possible an opportunity to come to them. You can raise an issue affecting policing in your area, whatever the location of the meeting.
Q. How can I become involved in the work of the DPP?
A. Come along to the Meetings in Public and participate in the consultation forums held by the DPP. These are regularly advertised in the local newspapers and posters are placed in libraries and community venues throughout the borough. This information is also posted on this website at the News Room and at Meetings. You can also contact the DPP Manager with your ideas.
Q. How are Members elected onto the DPP?
A. There are two types of Members. Elected and Independent. The 10 Elected Members are nominated by their political parties, and their numbers reflect the balance of the Council as a whole in the last local body elections. The 9 Independent Members were appointed as follows: after members of the public responded to public advertising for nominations, an independent consultancy firm (Price Waterhouse Coopers) was employed to consider and put forward names to the Northern Ireland Policing Board. The Board chose the Independent Members based on this advice and to reflect the make up of the community of Craigavon Borough within the DPP as a whole.
Q. How long is a DPP appointed for?
A. Up until the next local body elections (2009) - a four year period.
