Local Policing Plan

At present, policing priorities are developed in two strands:

1. Northern Ireland Policing Plan 2010 - 2013

The priorities for this plan are developed by the NI Policing Board, the PSNI and the Secretary of State. The priorities and targets relate to policing in Northern Ireland as a whole.

The NI wide results from the NISRA survey are taken into consideration when the policing plan is being developed. In addition to this DPPs are invited to submit issues and priorities for consideration each September.

2. Local Policing Plan

In order to effectively feed into the process of developing the local policing plan for Craigavon for 2010/2011, the DPP considered the results of this year’s public consultation process, including Meetings in Public and feedback from Community and Police Liaison Committees and Community Forums. In addition a number of Local Policing Plan consultation meetings were held in October where a wide representation from the community had the opportunity to attend. At these meetings attendees had the opportunity to discuss and prioritise policing issues for the Area Commander to consider when producing the local plan. The top priorities identified included; anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, road traffic offences/road safety, drugs and domestic burglaries.
