At present, policing priorities are developed in two strands:
1. Norther Ireland Policing Plan 2006-09
2. Local Policing Plan
1. Norther Ireland Policing Plan 2006-09
The priorities for this plan are developed by the NI Policing Board, the PSNI and the Secretary of State. The priorities and targets relate to policing in Northern Ireland as a whole.
The NI wide results from the NISRA survey are taken into consideration when the policing plan is being developed. In addition to this DPPs are invited to submit issues and priorities for consideration each September.

2. Local Policing Plan
The DPP was invited to feed into the process of developing the local policing plan for Craigavon. The approach taken by the DPP was to form a Strategy Sub-Group, that would focus specifically on identifying local issues and concerns and feed these into the local DCU planning process.
The sub-group firstly considered the results of the public consultation process to date, including the local NISRA survey, feedback from Community and Police Liaison Committees and local consultative forums and concerns raised through the DPP Meetings in Public.
The group forwarded these issues through to the PSNI for consideration, and was then invited to attend a 2 day workshop with the local DCU management team to further develop the priorities for the plan. The sub-group greatly appreciated the inclusive approach to planning that was undertaken by the local DCU, and hope to continue and further develop this ethos.
