Local Police Performance

The DPP are tasked with monitoring the performance of the police in order to measure the progress of the PSNI in meeting the targets that are set in the local and annual policing plans.

In accordance with the Code of Practice, the District Commander presents a report at each Meeting in Public detailing crime and performance statistics for given periods. These reports normally cover a two month period, however, twice a year the DC presents a much more detailed six monthly report which includes performance against policing plan targets, progress in achieving Patten recommendations and human resources issues.

The members duly question the District Commander regarding the contents of the reports and current policing/crime issues that affect the Borough. In particular, they focus on those areas where targets are not achieved. This leads to much more detailed discussion at private meetings with the emphasis placed on the types of initiatives and actions that could be developed in order to address the publics’ concerns.
