What is Derry District Policing Partnership?
The Derry District Policing Partnership (DPP) is a partnership between Derry City Council and representatives of the local community.
What is the purpose of the Derry District Policing Partnership?
The purpose of the DPP is;
- to make arrangements for obtaining the views of the public about matters concerning the policing of the district and for obtaining the co-operation of the public with the police in preventing crime;
- to present these findings to the PSNI District Commander and agree priorities for the local Policing Plan;
- to monitor the performance of the police in carrying out the local Policing Plan; and
- to act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of the district.
What is the purpose of the public meetings?
The DPP will hold a number of public meetings throughout the district. These public meetings enable the public to present their views on the policing of the district.
These meetings will be publicly advertised at least fourteen days in advance.
At each meeting, the PSNI District Commander will present a report on the policing of the district.
DPP members will ask the PSNI District Commander questions in respect of his report of the local Policing Plan.
The public have the right to ask questions of the police through the chairperson of the DPP.
The process for asking questions is to submit a written question to the DPP. The attached reply form will facilitate this process.
It is important to note that if a person wishes to have their questions acknowledged, they need to include their name and address.
The information gathered from these meetings will be used to identify the key issues, concerning the policing of the district, that the public would like to see addressed.
Each year the DPP will produce a report which will include the information gathered at each of the public meetings. The PSNI District commander will use this report when developing the local Policing Plan.
Everyone is welcome to attend and observe the meetings.
