How to ask questions

The process for asking questions is to submit a written question to the DPP.

It is important to note that if a person wishes to have their question acknowledged, they need to include their name and address.

Any person living or working in the district or any person directly affected by the policing of the district can submit a written question to the Derry DPP.  It should also be noted that not all questions have to be dealt with at a public meeting and some questions may receive a written response instead as far as is practical all questions received by the DPP will be presented at a public meeting, unless legal or other specific circumstances prohibit their presentation to the meeting.  Examples of when this may arise include when the question submitted may request information that can endanger the security of one or more individuals, is of a sensitive personal nature, or may prejudice proceedings which have commenced in court.  Questions can also be submitted at the start of the meeting but these questions are unlikely to receive a detailed response at the meeting and may be carried over to a future meeting.  Alternatively, any member of the public may choose to ask a member of the DPP to raise an issue or ask a question on their behalf.
