Who are we?
We are an independent body established by law and comprise 17 people. Made up of nine councillors and eight independent members, whose main responsibility is to make sure that Dungannon & South Tyrone has the best possible police service.
How will we do this?
As an independent body the role of Dungannon and South Tyrone DPP is to consult with the community to ensure that local policing reflects local needs. We have an obligation to consult with the community of Dungannon and South Tyrone to gauge local perceptions and concerns and bring these forward to the District Commander of PSNI.
What are the main roles and responsibilities of Dungannon & South Tyrone?
- Consult with the community to find out what local policing issues are;
- Act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of Dungannon and South Tyrone;
- Assist in the establishment of local policing priorities for the local policing plan, in conjunction with the local PSNI District Commander;
- Monitor the performance of the police against the local policing plan; and
- Develop practical ways of gaining the public's cooperation in working with the police to prevent crime and protect the public.

The strength of Dungannon and South Tyrone DPP is that it provides a new and unique opportunity for members of the district to voice their views on local policing. It provides you with a mechanism to shape local policing in your area through the assistance of your DPP. We will work with you and/or your community group/organisation to help the police in preventing crime in Dungannon and South Tyrone.
