One of the key statutory obligations of a DPP is to gauge the views points and concerns of the residents from the borough council area, through an extensive consultation process. The results of the consultation exercises are collated into a consultation report. The consultation report reflects the key issues and priorities for that borough council, concerning policing and general safety.
The consultation report is presented to the District Commander, NIPB and Council for consideration. The District Commander has a statutory duty to consult with a DPP re identifying the key objectives for the Local Policing Plan.
Dungannon and South Tyrone DPP identified five key objectives for inclusion in the Local Policing Plan 2006/7.
They are:
- Road Policing
- Race crime
- Anti-social behaviour
- Drug dealing and use
- To reduce crime and the fear of crime
