Welcome to the Fermanagh District Policing Partnership (DPP) webpage.

Fermanagh DPP was established with the appointment of nine Independent Members on 4 March 2003.  It is a partnership between Fermanagh District Council, represented by ten Political Members, and the local community, represented by the nine Independent Members.

The DPP was reconstituted in December 2005.  Six Members were replaced (three Political Members and three Independent Members).  Thirteen Members were reappointed to serve another term on the DPP. The DPP is again in the process of reconstituting and new political members have been appointed.  The process for the appointment of Independent Members is currently ongoing.

Fermanagh DPP has legislative status through the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 (as amended) and has responsibility for

• monitoring police performance against the policing plans
• identifying community concerns regarding the policing of the District
• providing views to the police concerning the policing of the District
• making arrangements for obtaining the co-operation of the public in the prevention of crime.

Geographically, Fermanagh is the largest of the 26 Local Authorities in Northern Ireland and is unique in that it is the only District Council that is coterminous with a county boundary. It has an area of 187,582 hectares, one eighth of Northern Ireland's total land mass. Fermanagh has the largest land boundary in the United Kingdom with 103 kilometres bordering the Irish Republic.
