The Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 (as amended) gives District Councils the authority to determine the size of its own District Policing Partnership. Fermanagh District Council established the composition of the Fermanagh District Policing Partnership at 19 members – ten Political and nine Independent Members. (All DPPs have one more Political Member than they have Independent).
Ten Councillors were nominated by Fermanagh District Council to the District Policing Partnership at the Council Meeting in September 2007 under the D’Hondt system. This ensured equal representation by those parties who wished to take part.
On 2 December 2005, the Northern Ireland Policing Board appointed nine Independent Members to Fermanagh District Policing Partnership - six existing members were reappointed and three members were newly appointed. The NIPB is currently in the process of reconstitution and these nine Members will remain until the Fermanagh DPP is reconstituted, probably in the spring of 2008.
