Membership

An important feature of a DPP is its size and composition.  A DPP shall consist of 15, 17 or 19 members, as determined by the council.  In making this determination the council shall have regard to the number of members constituting the council and that political members reflect the balance of parties prevailing immediately after the last local general election.

Membership of a DPP will be made up of councillors and independents.  Independent members are selected on the basis of a fair and open competition.

An important feature of DPP membership is that the number of councillors will always exceed the number of independents by one.
