Policing Objectives, Performance Indicators and Targets 2004/05

Objective

To promote safety and reduce disorder

Performance Indicator Target
To work in partnership with others to
reduce the number of those killed and
seriously injured in road traffic collisions
Contribution towards the delivery of the Northern Ireland Road Safety Strategy
  • To increase the number of detections for excess speed
  • to increase the number of detections for non-wearing of seatbelts
  • To increase the number of detections for dangerous / careless driving.
  • To increase the number of preliminary Breath Tests carried out.
To reduce crime and the fear of crime    
To work in partnership with other relevant
agencies to help reduce the incidence of
crime, including organised crime, inline
with the Government's published targets;
and to diminish the fear of crime.
The number of domestic incidents reported compared to the number of domestic violence incidents.
  • To increase the proposition of domestic incidents reported where there is no violence.
To uphold and maintain the rule of law, counter the terrorist threat; and bring to justice those responsible for crime.
  • The number of violent crimes.
  • The number of sectarian incidents.
  • To reduce the number of violent crimes by 5% by March 2005
  • To maintain low levels of sectarian incidents in the DCU.
