Key Objectives

Lisburn DPP has made a significant contribution to help determine the key objectives set out in the Local Policing Plan.

The following objectives have been set in order to address the priorities identified through public consultation, which are primarily vehicle crime, domestic burglary, speeding, under-age drinking and young people causing annoyance:

  • To maintain public order, thereby providing for the protection and security of the public
  • To work in partnership with others to reduce the number of those killed and seriously injured in road traffic collisions
  • To work in partnership with other relevant agencies to help reduce the incidence of crime, including organised crime, in line with the Government's published targets; and to diminish the fear of crime
  • To disrupt the illegal supply of controlled drugs and to work in partnership with other agencies in tackling the problem of drug misuse
  • To uphold and maintain the rule of law, counter the terrorist threat; and bring to justice those responsible for crime
  • To improve organisational effectiveness within the police
  • To build and sustain confidence in the Police Service and police accountability arrangements by all sections of society in Northern Ireland, addressing all the areas set out in legislation and the Implementation Plan; and in increasing Catholic representation in the police
