PUBLIC MEETINGS
Lisburn DPP will hold a minimum of six public meetings per year. Residents of the City of Lisburn are invited, through public advertisements, to attend these meetings which are held at various venues throughout the City.
At each meeting, members of the public are at liberty to ask questions to the DPP Members and the Lisburn District Commander. These questions can either be submitted in writing prior to the meeting or raised verbally at the meeting. Questions must be relevant to the policing of the City. If the District Commander is unable to fully answer questions raised verbally at the meeting, he is required to respond to the individual and to the DPP in writing following the meeting.
In line with the District Policing Partnerships Code of Practice on Functions and Responsibilities, the District Commander then presents a report on the policing of the City covering the previous three month period. Following this presentation, Members of the DPP are free to raise issues relating to the report and to the policing of the City in general.
Monitoring meetings will take place on a six-monthly basis, when the District Commander presents a more comprehensive report, enabling the DPP to assess police performance in the following areas:
- the steps that are being taken to progress policing with the community as the core function of all police within the district;
- the contribution that the police are making to any community safety projects within the district;
- progress in achieving targets set out in the local Policing Plan and in the Annual Policing Plan;
- progress in achieving targets relative to crime prevention in the district.
