Role of DPP

Lisburn District Policing Partnership (DPP) was formally established in March 2003 and is a partnership between Lisburn City Council and representatives from the wider community.  It consists of 10 Elected Council Members and nine Independent Members, all coming from diverse community backgrounds and bringing with them a wealth of experience, knowledge and visions for the future of policing in Northern Ireland.

The main roles and responsibilities of Lisburn DPP are to:

  • consult with the local community on local policing issues;
  • assist in establishing priorities for the local policing plan and monitor the performance of the police in carrying out the plan's targets;
  • act as a forum for discussion on matters affecting the policing of the area; and,
  • develop ways of gaining the public's confidence and co-operation in working with the police to prevent crime.

In fulfulling the above roles and responsibilities, Lisburn DPP is providing all residents of Lisburn City with a unique opportunity to shape local policing.  It facilitates members of the public in questioning the Lisburn District Commander on the policing of the City and making recommendations for positive actions.
