MONITORING POLICE PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE LOCAL POLICING PLAN

Lisburn’s Local Policing Plan has been developed in the ethos and spirit of true partnership between the police and the Lisburn DPP.

The results of the public consultation survey carried out across the City in 2003 have been used as a basis for the development of the Local Policing Plan priorities.  It should be noted that there was strong correlation between the five biggest priorities identified by respondents to the NISRA survey and the main issues/concerns in terms of questions presented at public meetings.  The survey highlighted the under-noted priorities for local policing.

  • Vehicle crime
  • Domestic burglary
  • Speeding
  • Underage drinking
  • Young people causing annoyance

These are the issues that local people want police resources concentrated on and have been developed in the Local Policing Plan.

The role of the DPP is to monitor police performance against the targets set out in the Local Policing Plan.  Monitoring Meetings are held on a six-monthly basis and such meetings are open to the public.  At these Meetings, targets are scrutinised and clarification received from the District Commander.
