Newtownabbey DPP came into existence in March 2003 and has a total of 19 members.
- The 10 Elected members were appointed by Newtownabbey Borough Council in accordance with Schedule 3 of the Police (NI) Act 2000.
- The 9 Independent members were appointed by the Northern Ireland Policing Board from persons nominated by the Council in compliance with Schedule 3 of the Police (NI) Act 2000.
Members hold office until the date of the local general election following his or her appointment.
