The North Down DPP was set up under the Policing (NI) Act 2000 and established by North Down Borough Council in March 2003. This provided a unique opportunity for local people to shape local policing through a Partnership between North Down Borough Council and the local community, which is independent of the PSNI. The Partnership receives 75% of its funding from the Northern Ireland Policing Board and 25% from North Down Borough Council.
North Down DPP comprises 19 members, 9 independent Members and 10 elected Members.
