
The physical area of the PSNI District Command Unit (DCU) is divided into three geographical areas each managed by an Inspector, who has responsibility for policing within their sector. These are:
- Bangor Inner Sector –the area of the town within the ring road;
- Bangor Outer Sector –that area outside the ring road including the
villages of Conlig, Crawfordsburn, Helens Bay and Groomsport; - Holywood Sector – the area from Tillysburn to Ballyrobert, including Holywood Town, Seahill, Cultra and Craigantlet.
At the start of the financial year (2006-2007), the DCU had the following human resources to deliver a policing service in the North Down district:
- ·139 regular Police Officers;
- ·22 full-time Reserve Officers;
- ·33 part-time Reserve Officers;
- ·23.75 support staff.
In the financial year 2006-2007, the annual policing budget for North Down was £9.7 million.
