Members of the public are encouraged to attend and to learn about initiatives being undertaken by the Police.  It is also to hear how issues of crime and community safety are being addressed and to consider the District Commander’s responses to questions posed by Members of the North Down DPP and the public.

To obtain the views of the local community, provision is made for any person living or working in North Down or any person directly affected by the policing of North Down to direct a question to the District Commander.  Such questions are put through the Secretary of the North Down DPP and responded to by the District Commander at the meetings in public. In addition members of the public can ask a member of the North Down DPP to raise an issue or ask a question on their behalf.

The District Commander attends each meeting in public and presents a report on the recorded crime and detection rates within the Council area. Specific issues about the policing of the district, which may have raised the public’s interest or concern, are also discussed.

As a result of the meetings in public the Partnership has identified concerns over specific types of crime and anti-social behaviour.  This has resulted in subsequent police operations as a direct response.

To remain up to date with information the North Down DPP received a number of deputations from other bodies at private and meetings in public and enquired as to their impact in North Down. Since inception the following are a few examples of organisations that have met with the North Down DPP:
