North Down DPP has recognised both the challenges and the importance of its roles and responsibilities in relation to the Borough of North Down as set out in Schedule 3 Part III of the Police (NI) Act 2000. This legislation established the framework for the activities undertaken by North Down DPP. They are:
- To provide views to the PSNI District Commander and to the Policing Board on any matter concerning the policing of the Borough;
- To monitor the performance of the police in carrying out -
a.the annual plan as it relates to the Borough
b.the local policing plan for the district;
- To make arrangements for obtaining the views of the public about matters concerning -
the policing of the district
the cooperation of the public with the police in preventing crime; - To act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of the district.
