Role of DPP

North Down DPP has recognised both the challenges and the importance of its roles and responsibilities in relation to the Borough of North Down as set out in Schedule 3 Part III of the Police (NI) Act 2000.  This legislation established the framework for the activities undertaken by North Down DPP.  They are:

  • To provide views to the PSNI District Commander and to the Policing Board on any matter concerning the policing of the Borough;

  • To monitor the performance of the police in carrying out -
    a.the annual plan as it relates to the Borough
    b.the local policing plan for the district;

  • To make arrangements for obtaining the views of the public about matters concerning -
    the policing of the district
    the cooperation of the public with the police in preventing crime;

  • To act as a general forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of the district.
