What is Omagh District Policing Partnership (DPP)?
The Omagh District Policing Partnership (DPP) was established in March 2003, as a result of a statutory obligation placed on District Councils under the Police Act (NI) Act 2000
Who is represented on the DPP?
The DPP is a partnership comprising of eight Councillors representing Omagh District Council and seven independent members representative of the local community.
What is the purpose of the Omagh District Policing Partnership?
The purpose of the DPP is to:
•identify local policing issues
•establish policing priorities for the local policing plan in conjunction with the District Commander
•monitor police performance against the policing plan
•develop ways of gaining the public’s co-operation in working with the police to prevent crime
•act as a forum for discussion and consultation on matters affecting the policing of the district
When does the DPP hold meetings in Public?
The DPP holds meetings in public approximately every two months. These meetings are publicly advertised at least fourteen days in advance.
How do you submit a question?
The DPP welcomes questions from any person living or working in the District or any person directly affected by the policing of the District.
As far as possible all questions submitted in writing to the DPP at least 10 days in advance of a DPP meeting will be answered at a meeting in Public, (unless legal or other specific reasons prohibit their presentation to the meeting).
If names and addresses are included, questions can receive a written response, if requested.
Alternatively, any member of the public or an organisation may choose to ask a member of the DPP to raise an issue or ask a question on their behalf. Again, if a written reply is required a name and address should be provided.
At the discretion of the Chairman, members of the Public may also be given the opportunity to raise a question verbally, through the Chairman, at an appropriate point in the proceedings.
