Neighbourhood Watch Celebrate One Year On
Sion Mills Neighbourhood Watch celebrated the first anniversary of their scheme by hosting a crime prevention event for local residents in November 2006. The event aimed to raise the profile of the scheme and maintain momentum as the scheme moves into its second year.
Strabane DPP, in conjunction with the Community Safety Partnership and PSNI joined a range of statutory and voluntary bodies to host stands. 70 members of the scheme attended to avail of crime prevention advice and information in the lead up to the festive period.
Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators expressed their commitment towards on-going co-operation with the PSNI to ensure that Sion Mills remains a safe place to live.
Neighbourhood Watch is a system that promotes being a good neighbour, where people look after each other and keep a check on vulnerable people and places. It encourages neighbours to be vigilant, report suspicious activity and work together to reduce and deter crime and anti-social behaviour.
