Key Objectives

Strabane DPP have had a key influence into the targets that Strabane Police have set themselves in 2008-2009

Our key priorities are detailed below and these are the aspects that we monitor closely at our meetings in public. Consultations have shown that these are the crimes that the community living in Strabane district are most concerned about

Priorities are as follows:

1.    Tackling Crime: To prevent and reduce crime

To reduce the total number of violent crimes (includes offences against the person, sexual offences and robberies)

  • To establish and implement a town centre crime prevention/crime reduction initiative.

2.    Promoting Community Safety: To reduce the incidence of anti-social behaviour.

  • To reduce the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour by 5%
  • To reduce the total number of criminal damage crimes by 40 crimes.
  • To increase the number of referrals made to the Youth Diversion Officer for underage drinking by 10%
  • To establish and appoint Neighbourhood Officers as school liaison officers within all secondary schools.

3.    Promoting Community Safety: To reduce casualties on the road

  • To increase the number of people detected for speeding by 5%
  • To increase the number of people detected for dangerous driving by 5%
